Greetings and good tidings.  Before we jump into the issue at hand let me introduce myself.  I am Raven, a 38 year old father, teacher, and gamer.  I have been involved in gaming since my first TRS-80 and Commodore Vic 20.  I will be covering issues for the casual gamer, the person who has about two hours a day to devote to our favorite pastime.  My observations will, for the most part, be opinion generated to spark discussion.  Like the onyx bird that Poe wrote about, let me fly right into our topic of the moment.  Holiday Events, time sink or valid adventuring tool?

What has changed, Where is it going? Has it changed for the better? These are the questions I hope to answer as I tackle World of Warcraft’s 5th anniversary, and try to figure out what keeps the eleven million subscribers chugging along. According to Nethaera on the World of Warcraft forums. There will be a live chat with the developers of World of Warcraft on Thursday 10/22. I can’t see a live chat working out well on Twitter.

Join us this Thursday, October 22, at 3:00 PM PDT on Twitter for a developer chat with World of Warcraft’s director of production and game director.

Questions will be taken live through Twitter, so be sure to sign up for a Twitter account at https://twitter.com/signup and follow account @Warcraft in order to participate!

Due to the limitations of providing complete answers within Twitter, all answers will be posted on the forums in a dedicated thread, with links to the answers provided through Twitter.

Check out these changes after the break.

memorialday

It’s a slow news week… it’s a slow news day. How can I measure this? Well I just just checked my RSS feed from MMORPG.com and they have only fifteen new articles for the day and it’s nearly 4pm EST. They usually have at least twice that amount by now, and they post everything.

Well I have to give the industry a break. It’s almost Memorial Day weekend here in the US. It’s the “official” start of the summer and everyone is getting ready for awesome barbeque parties; so no one is really doing anything news worthy. Everyone is most likely getting ready for an extended weekend. What are you doing this weekend?
