If you like to follow the awesome viral advertising and conspiracy games Ragnar Tornquist and the other folks at Funcom are doing for their game here is the latest update. A Monsters of Maine blog has been discovered. It follows the investigations and other things that related to the last viral video released some time ago. If you can’t remember, check out Kingsmouth.
Also Tornquist tweeted recently that they will be showing off their game at GDC!
RagnarTornquist I can’t believe how much juicy stuff we’ll be
revealing – and showing – at GDC. Part of me wants to hold back, but hey, you wanted it! #TSW
Stay tuned.

Ragnar updates his blog with a few hints about the lore and depth that “The Secret World” may contain.
It’s been revealed (ostensibly by mentally unstable people who seem to believe that our game in some way closely mirrors real events) that the subterranean realm known as Agartha will feature – quite prominently – in The Secret World. We’ve dug deep (but not too deep, I hope) into all available literary and historical texts to find what we believe to be The Truth about the Hollow Earth. Or at least a truth. (There’s never just one, is there?) Exactly how Agartha will feature in TSW, I’m not about to reveal here, at least not now, but this is a golden opportunity for all of you to read up on the myths, legends and – possibly – facts about the forbidden lands below our feet. To prepare yourselves, so to speak, for the future.
You can find the bog update here.

Ragnar Tornquist sat down with MMOSite.com to discuss their upcoming game, “The Secret World“.
An excerpt from the interview:
MMOSite: You are giving players plenty of quest options in the game. Can you talk about the types of quests and how they will be interwoven into the storylines?
Ragnar: There won’t actually be any ‘quests’ in The Secret World – there will be missions. Semantics, perhaps, but our missions are quite different from traditional quests, something that’s crucial to how this game will look and feel and play. It won’t be like any MMO you’ve ever played…
…Incidentally, anyone caught using the word ‘quest’ on our team has to pay a small fine. True story. I think we may have enough money for a real shindig soon.

Recently Rock, Paper, Shotgun did an interview with Ragnar Tornquist. It’s a great read. He discusses what he’s learned from his past and comes of extremely honest about what he’s doing moving forward. He also discusses what to expect from the world and story and how they mesh together. One interesting fact we learn is that we should expect the story to come in installments. Ragnar says. “You’ll complete the story and say “Oh crap I want to know what happens next!” But then you’ll have to wait for the next season, and spend some time roaming around, discovering the other parts of the story.”

Worthplaying.com recently released an interview they did with Ragnar Tornquist, producer and director of Funcom’s ongoing project The Secret World. The Secret World is a modern horror/sci-fi action adventure MMOG that takes a player into a world of mystery and puzzle solving. Ask their community how fun it is to solve a global puzzle the weaves historical non-fiction with TSW lore.
