There’s some new stuff on the way for Aion. It’s just not a magazine offer this time! WoO!1 There’s some other stuff in Korean or whatever; you can watch that here; but that’s not the stuff I’m talking about.
This is…

Happy New Year everyone. I’m back, I hope you missed me. Here’s a story for you:
Well there was a little interesting bug with a quest turn-in that made people rich. Like super rich.
Greetings Daevas of Azphel,
Earlier today we began to receive reports that a small number of players on the Azphel server had received over 30 trillion Kinah as part of a reward glitch. Since that time, we’ve brought down the Azphel server and have been working diligently to identify how to restore economic stability.
Apparently people grabbed all the cash and bought everything they could get their hands on in the auction house and basically crippled the economy. Obviously they are going to be rolling back the servers.
That’s some funny shit.

On Aion’s Official Forums they have posted an announcement that they hope will increase retention and perhaps get players back.
Here they are in summary:
- Level 1-35 Characters will get double experience during the next three weekends.
- Soul Healing is cheaper
- “Rest” experience is increased during levels 1-25.
Is it enough? Probably not, but it’s a start I guess. They do say that they are addressing “this issue” in a patch next year. That may be way to far in the future with SWTOR, FFXIV and Cataclysm on the horizon.

So you remember that nifty little video Aion put out that told a tale of their iconic and amazing future that promised great things to come?
Yeah well…
The vision trailer is not a specific patch/expansion – it’s a vision of what we’re hoping to get out there in the future. -aion_ayase
Looks like they hired Brad McQuaid and are paying him with hope and marshmallows.

Lance Stites the Executive Producer at NCsoft West has written a new Aion community address. Sadly, he discusses the decision to delay the much awaited free server transfers. He also discusses the challenges of stopping bot users and RMT chat users, along with this he says they’ll be implementing a Game Surveillance Unit (GSU). The primary purpose of this new GSU “is to identify and ban users violating our terms of service: bot users, RMT chat spammers, and the like”. Will this be enough? I doubt it, but it’s a great start. I don’t think they want Aion to turn into another Lineage 2 bot fest. The piece of news that excites me the most, and might get some of us at Rerollz back into the game, is an increased rate in XP. Stites says, “We’re currently testing some game variables to increase experience gain and other factors”. Read the entire community address below and decide for yourself, Is this brightening the future for Aion? I think so.

NCsoft, the developers of Aion have delivered a bombshell to its loyal fans today. They release a teaser trailer simply named, “Aion Vision”. From the looks of it, they are rehauling the graphics, adding sun rays, more light, and better textures to environments. If some players who didn’t buy the game found the graphics lacking before, they sure are in for a surprise.
Video after the break for more details.
