Well we asked for it, and Mythic delivered.
Prior to today’s announcement in order to queue for scenario you or someone in your group had to be in the associated Tier. Now you don’t have to! This should have an interesting effect on the game. Since most people would queue up for the most popular scenario since they offered the quickest queue times and the most renown/exp per hour you had a larger concentration of people in that Tier neglecting the others. However now people might be inclined to spread out through the different pairings since they can access the more popular scenarios from anywhere in the world.
Will this improve PQ and RvR participation across the map or will it dilute it to thinly (heavily depending on your realm’s population of course)? A great change from Mythic, they are listening to the player base and they moved on it quickly.
What do you think?
Edited to add: Banhammer Updated to show the number of Gold Sellers banned as 4,966!

With the birth of any MMORPG you generally have two different types of players. The first of the two are the folks you race to the top, grinding out levels at insane speeds, sleeping little and working less. The game is their life for a few weeks making sure they get to the top as soon as possible. The other group of players are those who take their time getting to the maximum level. They types of players vary in play styles (see: Casual vs. Hardcore), some play test every class before committing to a class, some play two or three characters at once, others just level leisurely by enjoy the game and not playing for optimal experience per hour. Both types inhabit every MMORPG but the question is, does the game dictate your play style or is your play style consistent through every game?

X-Play on the G4 Network just recently reviews Warhammer: Age of Reckoning and gave the game a total of 5 Gold Stars out of 5! Great start for EA and Mythic! Also it gives us hope we will have a popular game to write about down the line.
Watch the video review:
|
Pros * Awesome career classes * Public quests rock * Plentiful RvR–even early on * Fresh crafting system |
Cons * No official forums * Almost an overabundance of context * Bugs and crashes (being fixed as we speak) |
Do you agree? Have any other reviews you’d like to share?

Ok, so it’s technically not Friday any more, but we’re still up, so let’s just pretend it is. This weeks Tip of the Hat goes to Mythic’s handling of gold farmers and spammers in Warhammer. Most companies get rid of the farmers quietly, but not Mythic. Server-wide announcements and mass-bannings happening daily are unique to Mark Jacobs and company. Unfortunately, there’s still a lot of them getting through the cracks, but it’s virtually unavoidable. Seeing the lengths that Mythic will go to eradicate the “real money transaction” market is definitely heartening to see. If Mythic keeps up the pace, soon enough we might never get a tell from Fhhastirkqw again. It’s almost a sham, almost.
As the formula goes, not all is well in Warhammer though. This week’s Waaagh of the Finger goes to whoever at Mythic mapped out the 3rd tier scenario Tor Anroc. Tor Anroc is a center-flag scenario similar to the 2nd tier scenario Mourkain’s Temple. Unfortunately, unlike Mourkain’s, Tor Anroc actually has a shorter path to the flag for Destruction than for Order. This leads a vastly unbalanced play experience as Destruction captures the flag first about 90% of the time, making for a miserable experience for Order players. One might suggest just queueing for another scenario, but Destruction players aren’t quite as dumb as they look. Since they have such an advantage in Tor Anroc they play it more often than any other scenario. This makes all the other scenarios barren in comparison. Hopefully Mythic hears the complaints about this and fixes it soon. Look for a future post further detailing Tor Anroc.
